6 weeks left!!

Ugh, I can't wait for this to be over. I'm so uncomfortable. I was fine up until this past weekend. Now the pressure is worse and I've had quite a bit of pain (although not enough to think I am in labor or something is wrong). I can't sleep at all. Every time I move during the night, I get sharp pains in my sides. I just want my baby girl here. Granted, I won't get sleep then either, but at least I will be comfortable for the 1 hour of sleep I will get.

We had our baby shower last weekend and we got so much stuff! We are so thankful for everything we received. The party was so much fun and so was going through everything again when we got home. :)

Wilford Brimley is my best friend...

...because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes last week. I was actually quite surprised when they told me, but I guess that is because I was naive and didn't know much about it. I thought of gestational diabetes was similar to the type that affects people who eat terribly and are extremely overweight (not that I don't eat crappy foods once and a while, nor did I have a super model body pre-pregnancy). Now I know that it is my body's inability to process the sugars because of the amount of hormones being produced by the placenta. I thought because I was already in my 3rd trimester and had only gained 12 lbs. I was good to go. Unfortunately, I'm not.

I started having to test my sugar levels on Tuesday, and then they started me on night time insulin on Wednesday. Today I started a second insulin injection which I have to take right before breakfast. It's not fun, but if it is for Alice, I will do anything.

This weekend, Mike and I are going to our childbirth classes. I'm very excited to go. It means that it's coming up quick and I can't wait for Alice to be here.

So here's the deal...

It's been super hectic lately, so I haven't had much of a chance to update much here. But here's a quick rundown of the happenings...

I'm now 23 weeks along....holy crap, right?! Alice is a freakin' acrobat and is constantly beating her mama up.

Mike is so excited that he can now feel her moving and kicking. The look on his face was priceless when he first felt her.

We are getting ready to move to a 3 bedroom apartment next week.....I also have my finals for school that same day. Ugh. I switched my schedule at work so I'm working nights. It's so much better now.

So we have been packing like crazy and trying to get everything done with one of us always working...

27 days left....

27 days until our appointment for our fetal scan......and we can finally know if it is Alice Olivia or Desmond Cole. I'm so excited. I have another appointment beforehand, in two weeks, and then we'll find out a couple weeks later.

Our last appointment went well. We heard the heartbeat again, this time extremely strong and loud. I also told the doctor that I had started to feel the baby flutter around 12 1/2 weeks and she was surprised. She told us we had an over-achiever in there. LOL.

Mike had been on a business trip this week and came home last night. I received a text from him saying he was boarding his last plane to come home and I got super excited and all of a sudden, the baby started doing a little Irish jig in my belly. The baby was apparently very excited that Daddy was coming home. LOL. 

I realized that I never posted pictures from 15 weeks and 16 weeks so I thought I would post them for everyone.

Sorry for the quality. My phone doesn't take the best pictures...I also think I looked bigger in week 15.....

Finally finished my finals for school and am now in two more classes. They are actually not too bad. I have algebra which surprising is fairly easy, and I have a nutrition class which has a whole thing on nutrition during pregnancy. It's awesome.

1, 2, 3, KICK!

So I've been feeling the baby move a lot over the past week or so. It started with me going to get a prenatal massage and while I was laying down, I felt a fluttering in my stomach. At first I was like "Oh, God....please don't let me have gas when I am getting a back massage....please..." Then I realized it felt totally different. Then we were visiting Mike's parents this weekend and we were watching an action movie with the surround sound on. There was a part with lots of loud yelling and I felt the baby moving all over the place. This afternoon I startled it with a sneezing fit. There have been a lot of other times in between but those are my fave.

We have less than 5 weeks to go til we find out the sex. I can't wait! We have an appointment this next Tuesday but it will be the next one when we will find out.

I've been going to the physical therapist for my lower back for the past few weeks. I've been having such pain. It feels like it's a nerve issue...It started before I was pregnant but now it's gotten worse. Been doing all kinds of exercises to get the pain under control...

Anyway, we are in the middle of a large snowstorm up here, so I better get my chores and homework done before we lose power.....

Second Trimester, Here I Come!!

Thank God! I'm starting to get some of my energy back. I am somewhat feeling human again. I actually feel like I can somewhat function.

We got to hear the heartbeat last week. It was amazing! It was so strong and loud. It made me feel relieved to hear that. Just about 6 1/2 weeks til we find out if it's a boy or a girl. I'm so excited for that.

Um, what just happened?

So I took my most recent photo (with my new maternity pants and shirt, might I add) and I feel like I suddenly got HUGE....Shall we compare?

3 1/2 weeks....pretty fairly flat...besides the fat...

8 Weeks and a couple days....definitely bigger.

9 1/2 weeks....WHAT?!

It's a baby!!!!!!

I realized today that I hadn't taken any bump pics in the past couple weeks. While I was at work, I was in the bathroom and decided to look at my belly.....I was surprised as to how much of a bump was there! I've definitely gotten bigger!

8 weeks 3 days

So I went in today to have a check up because I was having a little bit of pain so I wanted to make sure everything was ok. The doctor did an exam and said that everything looks good. But she decided to do an ultrasound just to make sure. Here is our little bean!!!!

Wow, it definitely feels real now......I love this little bean....

6 Weeks 6 Days.

Tomorrow I will start into my 7th week and all I want to do is sleep. I mean it. I want to sleep ALL day. Which is hard when I am a housekeeper at a hospital and all I do is move constantly ALL day. I get home and as soon as I sit down, I want to sleep. I cook and eat dinner and then immediately fall asleep on the couch. I'm just exhausted.

Today was my day off and I drove to my Dad's house to visit him before he left for Florida for the winter. He leaves next Wednesday. Next time he will see me I will be just about 5 1/2 months along. It will probably be quite a difference. He hadn't said much about the baby since I told him, but today I mentioned it and he said "It's still so weird to hear you say that." Tell me about it! LOL!

Two weeks from today we go for our second appointment at the doctor for the baby. I can't wait. The appointment after that we will be able to hear the heartbeat.

So here's the latest pic....not much different from the last. Still pretty bloated.

Not much else going on. Besides the fact I need a nap.

Mind Your P's and Q's.

Sometimes I wish people would just shut their mouths. Yes, this is another rant.

I love that everyone and their mother is trying to give me advice on pregnancy. That's not the bad part really. It's the part when people start comparing my pregnancy to theirs, or telling me how I should feel or look at this point in my pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different and just because I don't have the same symptoms as you did or don't look how you did, doesn't mean diddly squat. Just shut your mouth and leave well enough alone.

Now that that's said, I've decided to start putting my weekly (or semi-weekly photos) here. Here's week 5 1/2. Yes, I know it's mostly bloat, but as I've told other people, I'm bloated because of the baby so therefore, it's my baby bump.

5 1/2 Weeks.

I went to my first doctor appointment on Tuesday and it went well. They just told me my due date (August 25th) and then took about 6 vials of blood. My next appointment is on January 19th and then the one after that we get to hear the heartbeat. :)

We bought some stuff for the baby this week. A bunch of onesies and a couple toys and books as well. It's so fun shopping for the baby. :)

Anyway, I should probably go get dinner ready...Will update you soon!

246 Days to Go.....

....At least that's what my "ticker" tells me. Also that my baby is the size of an apple seed. That's actually pretty freakin' exciting. It's amazing how quickly they grow in the first trimester.

Tomorrow begins my 5th week. So, I thought I would include some pics...
